Dangerous Inspirations = New Art Work

I just added two new drawings to my Pencil and Pen Gallery.  Here’s how they developed:

Cactus FlowerCACTUS FLOWER

I have a large pot of cactus on my patio that only blossoms once a year and for only a day. It puts out a lot of effort and  beauty for a short moment.  That gets my attention.  Plus, it has great organic shapes and lines, with thorns as a warning: “I may be pretty but don’t get too close.”  Maybe I just like dangerous things.

Chili PeppersCHILI PEPPERS

I planted a bunch of tomatoes early in spring. We had a very cool summer so they just never took off like they do most years.  So I bought a bunch of Anaheim chili plants and waited to see what happened with them.  Wow!  They loved the weather and now I have more chilis than I know what to do with.  And they have great organic shape and color.  Maybe they’re not as dangerous as a jalepeño or a habañero chili, but I still cough when I take the seeds out of the center.  That’s dangerous enough for me.

Hope you enjoy the new drawings.  Feel free to let me know what you think.  They are available as blank art cards and prints.
